Rib eye steak with onions relish

Great, easy and delicious dish, served with baguette and green salad
4 Servings

  • Vegetable Cooking Spray
  • 1 Onion, Sliced
  • 1 Stalk Celery, Chopped
  • ½ Red Pepper, Seeded and Chopped
  • 9 tablespoons Cider Vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 mL) Salt, ( ⅛ for relish, ⅛ for stake )
  • 450 g Rib Eye Steake, All fat frimmed, at room temperature
  • Black Pepper To Taste

1) Heat a medium heavy - bottomed pot over medium heat

2) Coat the pot with cooking spray. Add the onion, celery, and red pepper and cook until browned, about 7 minutes

3) Add the vinegar, water, sugar, and ⅛ teaspoon salt and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.

4) Heat a large heavy- bottomed skillet over medium heat.

5) Cook the steak in the skillet until browned, about 4 minutes. Flip the steak and cook the other side until browned , 3.4 more minutes.

6) Cook the steak in the skillet until browned, about 4 minutes. Flip the steak and cook the other side until browned , 3.4 more minutes.

7) or 60º C ( 140º F ) medium

8) Season the stakes with the remaining ⅛ teaspoon salt and pepper, Serve with the onion relish.
